16-портовый 10-гигабитный оптический модуль поддерживает до 130 портов 10 Gigabit Ethernet в одном шасси Cisco Catalyst 6509 и 260 портов 10 Gigabit Ethernet в VSS и предназначен для локальной сети агрегирование кампуса и доступ к центрам обработки данных, где очень важны разветвление и плотность портов. Он состоит из 4 групп портов по 4 порта каждый. Пользователи могут управлять каждой группой портов в режиме переподписки (от 2 до 4 портов, используемых для каждой группы портов) или в режиме производительности (1 порт для каждой группы портов), обеспечивая гибкость использования некоторых портов для подключения к серверам в режиме производительности, а другие для восходящих линий к монтажным шкафам в режиме переподписки. В режиме производительности до 4 10 портов Gigabit Ethernet можно использовать для создания виртуального коммутатора в VSS.
